Canon Rebates – March 2011

INSTANT REBATES ENDING SOON

Promotion ends March 19, 2011.

For those who still don’t know, there is an “Instant Rebate” and “Double Instant Rebate” promotion available for Canon DSLR cameras and lenses ending soon. This may be a good time for making your purchases.

It works as always: you simply buy one or more of the qualifying lenses or cameras and you get an instant rebate on your final price. You simply pay less.

But if you buy a camera AND a lens that qualify at the same time, then you get a double instant rebate! The double discount will be displayed on your shopping cart. It’s that easy.

For instance the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS II USM (the best Canon 70-200mm 2.8L zoom lens by far, which we really recommend) currently has $200 instant rebate, but if you buy it with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II or Canon EOS 60D (or any other DSLR that qualifies) at the same time, you will get a $400 instant rebate on the lens. Nice!

For your convenience we provide a list of the current promotions below.

– List of DSLR that qualify for Double Instant Rebates:

Purchase any of the above DSLR cameras and take advantage of the double instant rebates on the lenses mentioned above.

Important: Please note that B&H does not process web orders from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

Canon Double Rebates Ending Soon

ENDING SOON!
CANON DOUBLE INSTANT REBATES

Additionally to the normal “Instant Rebate” Canon launched a great promotion some months ago that “doubles” the rebates, but they are both ending very soon: January 8, 2011.

Don’t miss the chance if you are planning to buy a new camera, lens or flash! We all love promotions, and even more if they are “double”.

“Instant rebates” are the best way to buy at a lower price because you don’t need to send anything by mail and then wait for a check or prepaid card to take real advantage of the discount like with “mail-in rebates”. With “instant rebates” you pay less, it’s that simple.

Click here to see the Full List of all qualifying items for Double Rebates.

LIST OF QUALIFYING CAMERAS
FOR DOUBLE REBATE

Important:
– Any Body/Kit configurations are eligible
– The final double discounted price will only be reflected in the cart. Please check it and you will see the double saving!

IMPORTANT NOTE

Even if you don’t buy a second or third item, there is still an instant rebate available on LOT of Canon cameras, lenses and flashes! Both promotions end soon.

Check: FULL LIST of ALL qualifying items for “Instant Rebate” and “Double Instant Rebate”.

For instance the Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS II USM (the best 70-200mm 2.8L by far) currently has $200 instant rebate, but if you buy it with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II (or any other DSLR that qualifies) at the same time, then you will get a $400 instant rebate on the lens.

Great moment to buy photo gear indeed!

TAMRON TO RELEASE ABERRATION CORRECTION CAMERA RAW PLUG-IN FOR ADOBE® PRODUCTS

From Tamron Website:

PRESS RELEASE

September 1, 2010, Commack, NY— President and CEO of the optical equipment manufacturer Tamron Co. Ltd., Morio Ono announced today the release of their latest offering, an aberration correction function for Adobe Systems Incorporated’s software. The lens profile provided by Tamron will be used to make the plug-in for digital image editing software, Adobe® Photoshop® CS5, Camera Raw® and the function for photo management software, Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3 ( for supported lens models, please refer to the chart below).

The lens profile will include Tamron’s Di series (lenses for full size image sensors) and the Di II series (lenses for cameras with APS-C size image sensors) and will be used to create a plug-in bundled in the Camera Raw® 6.2 update and the function for Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3.2. Tamron, utilizing design data, created this profile for image editing software that allows customers to easily correct distortion, chromatic aberration, and peripheral brightness (1) for Di series and Di II series SLR lenses.

(1) The amount and quality of correction depends on the user
Adobe, Photoshop and Lightroom are registered trademarks of Adobe Systems Incorporate

Future lenses are expected to also be included in this profile.

COMMENTS

The above announcement is great and hopefully the list of supported lenses by all manufacturers will increase over time.

Although it seems there is no support for some lenses like the Tamron SP AF17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical (IF) (Model A05) which is owned by lot of photographers because it’s a very interesting alternative to some much more expensive and professional lenses (obviously on a different league too) like the excellent and beautiful Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM or even the mid-range Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0 L USM.

It would be great and extremely helpful that Tamron also adds support for all their lenses, even if they are not currently in production, since lot of photographers are using them.

Of course you can customize and build your own lens profile using the free Lens Profile Creator (available from Adobe Labs here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lensprofile_creator/) but it takes some work that needs to be carefully done.

REBATES & PROMOTIONS

Taking advantage of rebates and promotions is one of the smartest ways to save money and get the best prices on photo gear and everything you need.

If you have recently checked our GEAR section, you might have noticed that Canon is offering INSTANT rebates on most of their best lenses and also some DSLR cameras & kits.

This promotion ends on July 10th.

It’s a great opportunity to buy what you are needing!

LIST OF LENSES WITH REBATES

Below we publish a complete List of Canon lenses with instant rebate available.

If you are looking for 3rd party lenses, or even for other brands of cameras like Olympus and Sony, there is ALSO a promotion! In that case please check them here.

Lot of these lenses are a “must have” and give the highest possible image quality.

SUGGESTIONS:

– Don’t miss them, and don’t wait until last moment to buy. Lenses with rebates often get out of stock lot before the promotion ends!
– If you buy an expensive lens, we recommend to consider buying an extended protection plan of 3 or 5 years. It is worth the extra money.
