New Firmware at Tech Service Centers

CONFIRMED:

We got confirmation that the new firmware for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is already available at Canon Tech Service centers since 1st or 2nd week of February (depending on each center/country).

But they are not allowed to update cameras until March 17th.

We will update this blog / post as soon as new information arrives.

  1. Let me put it this way… If Canon cannot provide timely, meaningful updates to my 5D, I will sell it along with all of my Canon glass. I didn’t spend $2600 for the privilege of buying a new body every 18 to 24 months. Please Canon, ensure my loyalty by honoring the investment I’ve made in your products over the years.

  2. Great stuff 5dmkii team!

I’m sure I can speak for all of your other users…

Thankyou so much for all of the time and dedication you have given to this cause and for all the campaigns you have made over the months gone by.

Without it, who knows wether canon would be giving such significant updates via firmware.

I guess we will see in the coming months wether a fully working 60p was possible or not, maybe magic lantern could clear this up for us soon.

Again, thanks 5dmarkiiteam. You should take a well deserved rest!

  3. It’s the digital age buddy, Who are you going to be selling your glass for? Canon has updated the 5d II more than any other camera I’ve ever seen released by any company.

The problem is you DON’T ever need to buy a new body every 18-24 months. The original 5d is much older than that and it still takes just as amazing pictures as it did in the past.
